2010 NAYDO Conference on YMCA Philanthropy

Associations who are integrating philanthropy into all aspects of YMCA work in North America.”

 

The Excellence in Fundraising Eagle Awards are presented annually to YMCA Associations who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in YMCA Financial Development.  These Associations will have positioned their YMCA in the top group of most important charitable causes in their communities.

 

Awards in Four Categories*:  (based on Association or Branch Operating Budget Size)

 

$25 million and above

$10 million - $25 million

$2 million - $10 million

Less than $2 million

 

*Note:  The Eagle Award is for truly outstanding achievement. The NAYDO Council retains the righ to not present the award if none of the nominees rise to the level of truly outstanding achievement.

 

Criteria

 

Associations or Branches must be NAYDO Association Members and demonstrate the following characteristics:

 

1.     Strong evidence that philanthropy is ingrained in all aspects of the YMCA culture.

2.     Demonstrate evidence of yearly growth in the annual support campaign with member involvement as a primary component.

3.     Staff and volunteers work in equal partnership to advance the concepts of philanthropy.

4.     History of successful capital campaigns that address critical needs within their community.

5.     Endowment program is in place and demonstrates annual growth.

6.     Positioned their YMCA among the most important human service causes and worthy of support in their local community.

7.     CEO is actively engaged in all aspects of advancing philanthropy within the YMCA.

8.     YMCA has extended its fund raising excellence and influence to other YMCAs and nonprofits.

9.     Board demonstrates 100% participation and 100% giving.

10.   YMCA follows best practices in fund raising.

 

 

 

Who May Nominate

 

A supervisor, staff colleague, Y-USA staff, board member, campaign volunteer or any other interested party with a thorough knowledge of the association’s fund raising record.  We also encourage association self-nomination from deserving and perhaps overlooked YMCAs.

 

Presentation of Awards/Video

 

Awards will be presented at the Eagle Award Banquet on April 8, 2010 at the NAYDO Conference in Charlotte. Selection will be made by January 2010 and recipient YMCA will be asked to be part of a short video presentation that tells your YMCA’s story including the CEO and/or Branch Executive, CVO, Development Director and participant(s) where applicable.  NAYDO will supply the guidelines and send in the team to film it. There will be no cost to your YMCA. Your YMCA will receive a copy of the video after the conference. The video will be shown at the Eagle Award Banquet in place of an acceptance speech detailing accomplishments.

 

Award recipient is expected to be registered for the conference and will be reimbursed for one conference registration after selection is announced.
