Financial Assistance Guidelines

1. Financial Assistance will be for the 2010 NAYDO Conference on YMCA  Philanthropy.

2. Financial Assistance is available to anyone and will be based on financial need.

3. Priority will be given to YMCAs who have the greatest needs and who:
-are not conducting or are unsuccessful with their current support
     campaign.
-are not running current support campaigns, but are committed to do so
     within the next year.

-that bring both staff and volunteers to the  conference

-have had a CEO change resulting in a new CEO starting within  the 12 months prior to April 2010.

4. A Financial Assistance Committee, appointed by the NAYDO Chair and separate from the Conference Committee, will manage the program and select the recipients based on the approved criteria. The committee has sole responsibility for selecting the recipients and managing the program.

5. Each person who receives financial assistance must write a brief letter describing what he/she gained from attending the conference and submit it by email within one month of the conference end date. Letters will be reviewed by the NAYDO Council at their June meeting.

6. Financial assistance recipients will authorize use of comments from their letters (see #5) in NAYDO promotional pieces including eblasts, web site, brochure, Developments and other applicable communications.

7. Financial Assistance will range from paying for the conference registration fee or up to $1,000. Each YMCA will be asked to justify its request for support.

8. Each year at the June meeting, the NAYDO Council will vote a sum of money from the Fund Balance to use for financial assistance for the following year. At the same time, the chair will appoint the Scholarship Committee and approve the criteria for financial assistance.

The amount the NAYDO Council approves each year for financial assistance will be built into the annual budget.

The Financial Assistance Committee will track the YMCA receiving the grant to determine the impact of the program.

All recipients approved by the committee will be given a check that covers the balance of their financial assistance beyond the cost of the registration fee which is automatically transferred. Acceptance of the financial assistance may require agreement to stay at a specific hotel since there are several available in 2010 all at different rates.
